Tynda, Russia — July 24, 2025:
A Russian Antonov An-24 turboprop plane carrying nearly 50 people crashed in a remote forested area near Tynda in Russia’s Far East on Wednesday, with all passengers feared dead, according to reports by Reuters.
The aircraft, built in 1976 and operated by regional airline Angara, was en route from Blagoveshchensk to Tynda when it vanished from radar. A burning fuselage was later discovered about 15 km from the airport, in a densely wooded, mountainous area.
Emergency crews rushed to the site, but as of now, no survivors have been found. A formal investigation has been launched by Russian aviation authorities. Early concerns center around the age of the aircraft and the difficult weather and terrain in the region.
