President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conferred the National Award for Public Service on 94 distinguished individuals, recognising their unwavering dedication and long-term service to the Maldivian State. The awards were presented during the official Independence Day ceremony held this morning at the Social Centre.
Each recipient was honoured with a commemorative shield and badge, acknowledging over 40 years of continuous service to the nation. The award, which celebrates competence, integrity, and institutional contribution, was initiated by President Muizzu to recognise civil servants who have played a vital role in building and sustaining key sectors of the State.
In his remarks at the event, President Muizzu extended heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the awardees, praising their exemplary commitment and contributions to national development.
“This award is a symbol of the State’s appreciation for decades of tireless service. Your work has laid the foundation for our nation’s progress,” the President said.
The National Awards Committee, tasked with selecting recipients, ensures a rigorous vetting process based on service duration and merit. While today’s ceremony honoured those who have served for more than 40 years, individuals with 35 to 39 years of service will be recognised during the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
The National Award for Public Service is one of the highest civilian honours in the Maldives and serves as a mark of national respect and recognition for public sector professionals.
