A symbolic tree planting ceremony was held today at Sultan Park in Malé, marking a moment of friendship and environmental commitment between India and the Maldives.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the event, held as part of PM Modi’s ongoing state visit to the Maldives.
In a symbolic exchange, President Muizzu planted a sea putat tree (Kim’bi) under India’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, while Prime Minister Modi planted a mango tree (An’bu) as part of the Maldives’ ‘Five Million Trees Planting Programme.’
The ceremony highlighted the growing partnership between the two countries and their shared dedication to climate action and sustainability.
