Malé, Maldives – The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has banned the sale and use of Aristo Pantoprazole 40mg injection (Batch No. EMPH243030) due to concerns over its quality.
In a statement released today, the MFDA directed all pharmacies and healthcare providers to immediately halt the sale and dispose of the affected batch in accordance with regulations. The decision was made after an assessment raised doubts about the batch’s safety and efficacy.
Pantoprazole is a widely used proton pump inhibitor (PPI) prescribed for treating acid reflux, ulcers, and other gastric conditions by reducing stomach acid production. The MFDA has stressed the importance of proper storage and transportation to maintain the quality of medicines in the country.
Authorities have assured the public that alternative medications are available and urged those affected to consult healthcare professionals for suitable replacements. The MFDA has also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines in the Maldives.
