President’s UN trip cost 2.46 million rufiyaa

The President’s Office has revealed that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s trip to New York, USA to attend the 79th session of the UN General Assembly cost 2.46 million rufiyaa.

The President traveled to the United States from September 20 to 29 last month. This was to deliver deliver a speech during the “High-Level Week” of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

The President’s Office stated that the total cost of his trip incurred by the government was 2,455,583.01 rufiyaa. However, they did not disclose the details of the expenses. Usually, the President’s Office has published itemized expenses as well.

The President’s Office said that during the previous presidential term, former President Solih’s trip from September 21 to 30, 2019, cost the state 4,171,832.42 rufiyaa.

They also mentioned that Solih’s trip to the United States from September 18 to 29, 2021, cost the government 5,349,505.88 rufiyaa.

“Therefore, the government’s expenditure for this trip has been significantly reduced compared to the previous two occasions,” stated the information released by the President’s Office.
