{"id":66393,"date":"2025-07-24T17:03:26","date_gmt":"2025-07-24T12:03:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/raajje24.com\/en\/?p=66393"},"modified":"2025-07-24T17:09:52","modified_gmt":"2025-07-24T12:09:52","slug":"seaplane-services-from-velidhoo-to-begin-in-january-president-muizzu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raajje24.com\/en\/66393\/","title":{"rendered":"Seaplane Services from Velidhoo to Begin in January :President Muizzu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong data-start=\"223\" data-end=\"248\">Velidhoo, Noonu Atoll<\/strong> \u2013 President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that <strong data-start=\"298\" data-end=\"369\">seaplane services from Noonu Velidhoo will commence in January 2026<\/strong>, bringing improved connectivity to the most populous island in the atoll.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"445\" data-end=\"704\">During a visit to Velidhoo on Wednesday night, the President revealed plans to fast-track the development of an airport at the nearby Vihafaru sandbank to enable the new service. A <strong data-start=\"626\" data-end=\"657\">dedicated seaplane platform<\/strong> will be built in Velidhoo ahead of the launch.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"806\">A <strong data-start=\"708\" data-end=\"733\">sea ambulance service<\/strong> based in Velidhoo is also expected to begin operation in the same month.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"808\" data-end=\"948\">The national airline, <strong data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"843\">Maldivian<\/strong>, currently operates seaplane routes to several islands in Baa atoll \u2013 Fulhadhoo, Fehendhoo, and Goidhoo.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"950\" data-end=\"1128\">With a population of over 2,000, Velidhoo plays a vital role in the region. President Muizzu confirmed that several major <strong data-start=\"1072\" data-end=\"1116\">development projects are in the pipeline<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1279\">\n<li data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1150\">\n<p data-start=\"1132\" data-end=\"1150\">A <strong data-start=\"1134\" data-end=\"1150\">new hospital<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1151\" data-end=\"1196\">\n<p data-start=\"1153\" data-end=\"1196\">A <strong data-start=\"1155\" data-end=\"1196\">community-based rehabilitation centre<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1252\">\n<p data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1252\"><strong data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1219\">Reclamation work<\/strong> to support boat-related services<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1253\" data-end=\"1279\">\n<p data-start=\"1255\" data-end=\"1279\">A <strong data-start=\"1257\" data-end=\"1279\">new police station<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1281\" data-end=\"1410\">The President also received a <strong data-start=\"1311\" data-end=\"1347\">petition signed by 600 residents<\/strong>, highlighting longstanding concerns over the island\u2019s harbour.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1412\" data-end=\"1569\">President Muizzu is currently touring multiple islands in Noonu atoll to engage directly with communities and oversee government-led development initiatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Velidhoo, Noonu Atoll \u2013 President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that seaplane services from Noonu Velidhoo will commence in January 2026, bringing improved connectivity to the most populous island in the atoll.
