The Maldives is gearing up to host its largest international sporting event to date, with the 15th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship set to take place from November 5 to 11 at Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives. This prestigious event is expected to attract significant global attention, featuring over 500 athletes and officials from 55 countries.<\/p>\n
An official opening ceremony was held at the VIP lounge of the Galolhu Football Stadium to mark the occasion. The event was inaugurated by the Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation, Honorable Abdullah Rafiu, who highlighted the importance of this championship for the Maldives, stating that it marks a significant milestone in the nation\u2019s sporting history.<\/p>\n
“Hosting such a major event is a great advancement for the Maldives,” Minister Rafiu said. “We hope that this championship will pave the way for more international sporting events, positioning the Maldives as a premier destination for global competitions.”<\/p>\n
Also in attendance were key figures including Commissioner of Sports Mohamed Tholal, Secretary General of the Maldives Olympic Committee Mr. Thamooh, and Director of Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives Mr. Ahmed Hamza, the venue for the championship.<\/p>\n
This event follows the Maldives’ successful hosting of the Asian Bodybuilding Championship and the South Asian Bodybuilding Championship in 2022. Datuk Paul Chua, President of the World Bodybuilding Federation, praised the Maldives for its growing experience in organizing such events, expressing confidence in the country’s ability to deliver a world-class championship.<\/p>\n
