President of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and Prime Minister of the Republic of India, His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, held high-level official talks today at the President’s Office in Malé. The discussions were a key highlight of Prime Minister Modi’s ongoing state visit to the Maldives.
Welcoming Prime Minister Modi, President Muizzu expressed deep appreciation for India’s continued support and significant contributions to the Maldives’ national development. He acknowledged India’s role as a long-standing and valued partner, particularly in areas such as infrastructure, health, education, and climate resilience.
The two leaders held in-depth discussions on a wide range of areas to enhance bilateral cooperation, including economic development, trade and investment, defence collaboration, and joint efforts to combat climate change. President Muizzu and Prime Minister Modi also emphasized the importance of mutual respect, trust, and people-to-people ties in advancing the partnership between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with both leaders expressing optimism about the future of Maldives–India relations. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in key sectors such as capacity building, healthcare, tourism, youth development, and sports. The talks mark a renewed chapter of constructive engagement and shared vision between the two Indian Ocean neighbours.
