Malé,- The Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) has appointed Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq, former Finance Minister, to its board of directors. According to the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB), Shafeeq’s appointment was confirmed on December 2nd.
Dr. Shafeeq previously held the role of Finance Head at HDFC before serving as the Finance Minister in the current administration. He resigned from his ministerial position on September 30th of this year. The current Finance Minister, Moosa Zameer, succeeded him in the position, having previously served as the Foreign Minister.
Shafeeq’s appointment to the board marks his return to HDFC, where he will bring his extensive experience from both the private sector and government to support the corporation’s strategic direction. His wealth of knowledge in finance and governance is expected to strengthen HDFC as it continues to play a key role in the development of housing finance in the Maldives.
