Malé, Maldives – The Elections Commission (EC) has announced that it is now possible for individuals to submit requests to leave political parties online. This new service, effective immediately, aims to simplify the process for citizens wishing to resign from their political affiliations.
The decision follows recent amendments to the regulations governing political parties, which were updated on September 23 to streamline the process of leaving a party. According to these regulations, once a member submits their request to leave, they must be officially removed from the party within 14 days.
Party members can now submit their requests online through the Elections Commission’s portal: http://my.elections.gov.mv.
